How can 17” rims have negative effects on a 5 door Grande Punto? 1

Posted on December 05, 2011 by Automotive News

Question by Max: How can 17” rims have negative effects on a 5 door Grande Punto?
I bought a 2010 5 door Fiat Grande Punto recently and i was thinking of tuning it you know like some rims body kits and these stuff but when i was buying the car at the Fiat Dealership they discouraged the idea of upgrading the 15” rims with 17” ones saying that it will have negative effects on the car and will cause suspension problems
What do u think ?

Why would the dealer possibly suggest that it could void your warranty in the first place? I`m sure that you can afford new rims and tires and look really cool . But no need to allow for a better braking system and better suspension to compensate for a different rim and tire that engineers spent years designing into your car. It is a NEW car. Why screw with your warranty ? The dealer highly suggested that you avoid that idea. Not sure why, but a few words fall into place . New car /Warranty, Body and tire/rim size change not from the dealer = void warranty It will cost you later as well as now. More than it is worth . Try to just drive the car for a few months and see how you feel. Don`t throw away your money as soon as you just buy a car out of vanity or to make it look unique to you. Just owning a new car is a good thing. Enjoy it and dress it up over time. Who knows, what you like now may not be what is even better and under warranty from the dealer 6 – 10 months from now? Wait a few months and see what the the market offers. All the kits are highly priced due the the fact that it is new. Within 6-18 months , it gets cheaper.
