Automotive Manufacturers Team Up for Corporate Responsibility Training 0

Southfield, Mich. (Vocus) May 27, 2010

Daimler AG, Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company, the Renault-Nissan alliance and Toyota in collaboration with the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) today completed three days of training in Responsible Working Conditions in Istanbul, Turkey. AIAG is a non-profit, member-driven organization that works with a wide range of manufacturing companies and service providers to help them operate at peak performance.

The AIAG-hosted training is designed, sponsored and funded by the automakers to help their suppliers meet local regulations and customer expectations for acceptable environmental and working conditions. It is a supplement to corporate responsibility commitments the automakers already have in place.

The training, developed in collaboration with North American and European automakers, is part of AIAGs comprehensive corporate responsibility initiative and is modeled after programs the North American OEMs Chrysler, Ford, GM, and Honda successfully launched with AIAG in China, and later in Mexico with the addition of Toyota. To-date, there have been more than 900 participants and information has been cascaded to more than 13,500 suppliers.

AIAG is known for working collaboratively with the automotive industry to improve product quality and eliminate waste, said J. Scot Sharland, executive director of AIAG. Now, were finding that the same team-directed approach, proven methodologies and commitment to continuous improvement can be applied to environmental strategies, ethics training and human resource management. The goal of this training is to help ensure that all suppliers share a common understanding and commitment to responsible business practices that protect both the environment and our employees.

Local rules, customer expectations and the fundamental principles of responsible working conditions will all be addressed in the training, as well as specific areas such as child labor, forced labor, freedom of association, harassment and discrimination, health and safety, wages and benefits and working hours. Programs in India and Brazil are in development. All of the participating automakers have demonstrated full commitment to the enhancement of working conditions in the global automotive supply chain.

Ford believes the auto supply industry should demonstrate respect for the people who produce parts for vehicles, no matter where they live, said Tony Brown, Group Vice President, Global Purchasing, Ford Motor Company. We started our training program in 2003. We believe it is essential to share our learnings with AIAG and the other members of AIAG since we use much of the same supply base. Its important that we build on our experience, not only to avoid duplicating efforts, but also to advance the agenda of working conditions as rapidly as possibly.

In addition to the working conditions training, automotive manufacturers are also working at AIAG on other initiatives under the umbrella of corporate responsibility with the support of Program Manager Jenifer Chambers Young of the Go Green Campaign. The organization hosts a web site http://cr.aiag.org providing a repository of tools and best practices related to social and environmental programs including greenhouse gas reporting, end-of-life vehicle, International Materials Data System (IMDS), Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemicals (REACH), and health, safety and environment.

About AIAG

AIAG was founded in 1982 by General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Chrysler Corp. to develop and share best practices to create a leaner, more efficient supply base. Since then, AIAG has grown and evolved to address increasingly complex global supply chain, manufacturing and quality issues, and now has tools and processes that can help diverse industries improve their performance, by protecting and enhancing corporate reputations, rooting out waste and inefficiency, uncovering cost savings and improving quality.

AIAGs Corporate Responsibility Web site (http://cr.aiag.org) is publicly accessible and was developed as a global resource containing important information for manufacturers and their supply base including tools for self-assessments, planning templates to facilitate cascading of the message, education and training for lower tier suppliers and direct links to other Corporate Responsibility programs.

A New Face Hits the World of Automotive Reviews 0

Posted on November 21, 2011 by Automotive News

Colleyville, TX (PRWEB) October 31, 2011

There are many great names in the Automotive Review industry; such as Motor Trend, Car and Driver, Auto Trader, and even the more humorous reviews like BBCs television program, Top Gear. All of these provide wonderful reports and reviews on all kinds of automobiles. You can now add another name to that prestigious listan energetic and tenacious 22 year old young man from Colleyville, TX, Bobby Johnson. Bobbys vision is to bring the automotive world directly to auto enthusiasts and consumers alike with the production of first-person, in-depth automotive reviews focusing mainly on the new car market. These videos can be found on his YouTube channel, GrandPrixGTP02, and although his vision seems revolutionary, he admits that this wasnt entirely his creation.

I really have to give a lot of credit to my good friend and fellow automotive reviewer, Kyle Lindsey, a.k.a. Saabkyle04, from Monroe, NC, he said. Kyle was the original creator of this particular style of automotive review. It was the inspiration from watching his videos, combined with my own ambition and car-guy nature that started me in on this path that Im on now. Bobby goes on to explain that Kyles reviews focused on just about any make, model and year of car, truck, or SUV, while Bobby decided to take a different approach and focus primarily on the newest vehicles on the market. I wanted to be different from Kyle for a couple of reasons, he said. One reason is that I didnt want to be an outright copycat, and another is because many others on YouTube had already taken Kyles idea and run with it. But the main reason is the fact that my true interest is in new cars. Within recent times, Kyle has started in on the new vehicle path, too, bringing in not only new cars, but luxury and exotic vehicles as well. Although they are both in the car review business, Bobby and Kyle have spoken numerous times and both agree that there never has been, currently is, or ever will be a competition between them.

The whole idea behind each of Bobbys reviews is to provide a realistic approach to viewing and researching new vehicles. I just got tired of watching the same slide shows and hearing the same monotone robotic voices. I know its been said that pictures say a thousand words, but, to me, that statement just didnt ring true when it comes to cars. Pictures cant let you hear how an engine sounds, describe the feel of the interiors quality, and so on. Sources for his reviews are plentiful as there are many auto dealerships in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Bobby continually touches base with these dealers and most of them gladly provide him the keys to vehicles hes specified, designate a spot for him to film his review, and then let him do his work. Before he begins any review, Bobby takes time to talk with knowledgeable folks, as well as study any and everything he can get his hands on regarding the vehicle hes going to film. Each review is between 15 and 20 minutes in length and covers just about every aspect of the vehicle. Impressively, Bobby films his review and publishes the video on YouTube without edits. Its as though Im therelooking through the car myself! Its incredible the amount of information he gets in a 15 minute video, said one subscriber of Bobbys YouTube channel.

As far as vehicles go, Bobby says that there are endless possibilities. So far hes been working with many local dealers within the immediate DFW area. The first dealer I started with was Classic Chevrolet, the nations #1 volume Chevrolet dealer. Former internet sales manager, Justin Norwood, was the person that helped me get the first ever sets of keys in my video career. From there, Bobby acquired many more dealership contacts, including Texas Nissan of Grapevine, Grapevine Ford/ Lincoln, Texas Toyota of Grapevine, and DFW Audi in Euless, TX. So far, those places have been my main contacts, and have never failed to disappoint, he says. Within recent months, he has gotten in touch with even more dealers such as Classic Dodge/ Chrysler/ Jeep/ Mazda of Denton, TX; Don Herring Mitsubishi of Irving, TX; and more. While his main focus is aimed at the more affordable side of the industry, his hopes are to start working with high end and exotic vehicles such as BMW, Mercedes Benz, and ultimately hit the big leagues like Ferrari and Lamborghini. He says that those particular brands are a fantastic goal to pursue and he hopes that someday hell be able to review those cars at a more in-depth level.

So whether youre a consumer and want more information before going to a dealership or just a car fanatic who likes watching car reviews to stay in tune with the latest automotive technology, you need to visit Bobbys YouTube channel: GrandPrixGTP02 for some awesome video reviews of the latest and greatest new vehicles.

If you are a new car dealer in the DFW Metroplex and would like more information, Bobby can be contacted at: 817.965.2679 or 1999gagt1(at)gmail(dot)com
